Step #1

Talk to our Coaching Coordinator

To make sure your goals and ours fit together, the first step is to talk to our coaching coordinator. Contact details are available here.

Step #2

Complete your DBS check

All our helpers must be DBS checked if involved with young athletes. This can be done easily through the England Athletics portal. The process is outlined here and our club secretary can verify your documents.

Step #3

Book Your Coaching Assistant Course

If you want to continue on to become a fully qualified coach and organise your own sesssions, once you have completed your Coaching Assistant course you become eligible to book onto an Athletics Coaching course organised by England Athletics. Coaching courses are organised regularly and include a 2 day practical element. You must talk to our coaching coordinator before booking a course. If you're actively volunteering with Preston Harriers the course is £205 at the time of writing and again, this will be repaid on completion of the course.

Step #4

Complete your Safeguarding Training Online

Safeguarding training is compulsary for coaches. There is a fee of £10 which will be repaid by the club on completion of training. For more information please see here.

Step #5

Complete Your Coaching Assistant Course

If you're actively volunteering with Preston Harriers the course is £205 at the time of writing and again, this will be repaid on completion of the course.

Step #6

Complete your Coaching Course

If you are completing the course you are already actively coaching, therefore the Club will repay the cost of your course as soon as you have completed it.
