Thur 5 July 2018, Tockholes, Darwen A delightful, if very warm, evening for the Tockholes fell race saw a record entry of 142 runners and over £1,000 raised for the East Lancs Hospice. It was dry and very dusty up on Darwen Moor, with not a lot of give in the ground, although the race is run mostly on tracks and fell paths. Views were good, if a little hazy. English Schools Track & Field Championships 13 & 14 July 2018, Birmingham The English Schools Track & Field Championship is the largest athletics competition of its kind in the world with over 1800 athletes competing in 101 events. Athletes qualify by obtaining the entry standard at their Schools County championship which took place last month. On 1st August Maurice Dean past away after a long illness. Maurice 86 years old was an active member since he joined the club in the 1950’s and was still helping with the writing of our club’s history up to his death. His funeral is on Tuesday 14th August at 1.30pm at Charnock Richards Crematorium, Preston Road, Charnock Brow, Chorley PR7 5JP.
