Grin & Bear It Fell Race Cancelled
Sun 27 Oct 2019 The final race in the club fell race championship has been cancelled at short notice. The race organiser has sent out this message, ‘Urgent Attention: Grin and Bear It Fell Race Oct 27th – with regret I’m having to cancel this years race. I’ve been advised a few hours ago by a private landowner that a section of the race that crosses his land is heavily waterlogged and given it has SSSI in places heavy foot fall will be damaging to the area. I’ve looked at a r

Hodgson Brothers Mountain Relay
Sun 6 October 2019, Patterdale
A report by John Griffiths

It includes near vertical climbs and very steep, technical descents, and some ridge running is required as well as navigational ability. Mick McLoughlin drove Roger Taylor and me up to Patterdale where the event starts and, for the rest of the day, fer

Bob Welfare
It is with much sadness that Preston Harriers announce that club secretary and coach Bob Welfare has passed away overnight. Bob did so much for this club and athletics, for Lancashire Schools, Lancashire AA, the Mid Lancs League and on wider regional bodies. For Preston Harriers he was instrumental in so many initiatives and he was a patient, understanding coach, who adored working with all the juniors over so many years. He will be sorely missed by everyone at the club and i

Mid Lancs Cross Country Ulverston
Sat 28 Sept 2019, Ulverston

The venue, at GSK Ulverston, was used for two visits in 2018; the first one in February was bitterly cold with sleet & hail showers and the October event was very wet, with persistent and heavy rain. This year, although there was some sticky ground, the going was generally good and mostly firm and the courses are undulating. The s
