Harriers round up August 16th – August 22nd
On Wednesday at Manchester international, Alex Bernstein won the men’s U20 hammer with a throw of 65.93. Podium 5k returned on the Saturday (Aug 21st) with Joe Monk taking 8th place in the A race, in a very fine time of 14:29. On the Sunday, three Harriers lined up at the Alderley Edge bypass 10K, with Carla Davis first of the trio to return home. Finishing in 36:34, which got her 4th place in the women’s category. Salomon Scafell Pike Trail Marathon Sunday 15th August 2021 Last Sunday saw the Salomon Scafell Pike Trail marathon start and finish in Crow Park, Keswick. The 44km and 1800m of climbing route took competitors down the Borrowdale Valley via Grange to Seathwaite Farm, where there was then a sustained climb to Styhead Pass and the Corridor Route to Scafell Pike. Harriers round up August 2nd to August 8th
The weekend saw the staging of the England U15/U17 championships at Sport City Manchester. Stand out performances include Jay Whiteside finished second in the U15 high jump, clearing 1.76m, Isaac Delaney finished second in the shot put, throwing 16.77m and Emily Rankin and Queenivette Nguta both setting new 100m PBs. Endurance Eliminator at Wrexham
21st August at Queensway Stadium, Wrexham. The Eliminator – the race begins with 11 athletes whose goal is to never get last. The competitors will battle it out to run 10 laps of the track with a recovery period (1 minute) after each lap which begins immediately after the first finisher crosses the finish line. Harriers round up July 26th – August 1st – Crorken sets a new standard
BMC Gold Standard meeting 27th July 2021 Whilst all eyes are on Tokyo watching the world’s top athletes do their thing, grassroots athletes were putting in stellar performances of their own, and for Preston Harriers the big event of the week was the BMC Gold Standard meet on the 27th.
