Preston Harriers’ flagship road race was relaunched with a new sponsor and a revised course, but the competition was as fierce as ever. Runners were glad to be racing again and the weather conditions were good, if slightly chilly. Dunnerdale fell race Saturday 13th November 2021 Black Combe Harriers organise this popular race in the little known fells of south west Cumbria, and it is described as a “classic short race round the tiny but rugged fells between the Lickle and the Duddon valleys”. It packs 550 metres of climbing into its 8 km distance, and this year there was a big entry, with 293 finishers. ECCA Saucony Cross Country Relays, Mansfield, Saturday 6th November 2021 The national cross country relays always attract the best runners from around the country, eager to test themselves on the fast course at Berry Hill Park in Mansfield. After a year without a championship the Lancashire Athletic Association are staging the 2022 Lancashire Cross Country Championships at Witton Park on Saturday January 8th and they hope to welcome a large gathering of grass roots runners there. The fixture is also the trials for the Lancashire teams (all age groups U13 upwards) to compete at the UK Inter Counties Championships at Prestwold Hall, Loughborough on March 12th 2022.

The weather may have been damp, but the racing was red hot at the Green Drive five mile road race at Lytham on Sunday. The race doubled as the Lancashire Championships, and the main contenders were soon battling it out at the head of the field.
