    Bleasdale Circle fell race – 23rd February 2022

    Out of 120 pre-entries, only 44 runners made it to the start line of this race due to a sudden fall of snow which made some of the surrounding roads impassable. The race is 5 miles long and takes competitors to a height of 500m over the exposed tops of Paddy’s Pole and Parlick.     The big event of the week was the penultimate mid-Lancashire cross country league meet in Leigh where Preston harriers are competing on several team and individual fronts across the various age categories.     The forecast was for prolonged and heavy rain, but very fortunately there was only a thirty minute spell of lighter rain at the Leigh Sports Centre for the fifth race of the Mid Lancs season. The courses were a mix of grass, trail, a small stretch of tarmac and some very muddy ground!     Masters Indoor Grand Prix EIS Stadium Sheffield, Sat. 5th Feb. Sharon Wilkinson, Carol Holt and Joanne Rowicki went over to Sheffield to compete in these races. For Carol and Sharon it was in preparation for the upcoming European Masters Indoors Championships to be held in Braga, Portugal.     Northern Athletics 6/12 Stage Road Relays – Birkenhead

    The Northern Athletics 6/12 Stage Road Relays are scheduled to be held on March 27th at Birkenhead. This is one most prestigious running events in the road calendar and it is an excellent event at which to kickstart your spring season of road running. The event is open to seniors aged 18 + with the men’s team(s) consisting of 12 runners and the women’s 6.     Northern Cross Country Championships Saturday 29th January 2022 For the fourth occasion in the last ten years, the prestigious Northern Athletics cross country championships took place at Pontefract Racecourse.
