British Fell Relay Championship

Preston Harriers have 1 team confirmed (Mens Open) and 1 team pending (Mixed Open) in this year’s British Fell Relays, 6 runners per team. The mixed team must comprise 3 men and 3 women.

The event is on Saturday 19th October with Leg 1 runners off at 11.00am Website for full details: https://britishfellrelays2019.org.uk/

Anyone wishing to run please contact Roger Taylor and state if you have any Leg preference. These relays are always great fun! The event takes part on the wild, rugged terrain of the Derwent and Howden Moors, about a 2 hour drive from Preston.

Leg 1 Solo – 7.65km / 360m climb (fully flagged route – although following flags between checkpoints is not mandatory) Leg 2 Pairs – 12.3km / 484m climb (fully flagged route – although following flags between checkpoints is not mandatory) Leg 3 Pairs – 11.2km / 520 – 570m climb (navigation leg) Leg 4 Solo – 7.85km / 375m climb (fully flagged route – although following flags between checkpoints is not mandatory)

See the website for guidance and information on the race routes. Car parking is in Bamford village, which is about a ten minute drive from the event arena at Fairholmes. There is no parking at the event centre. A fleet of coaches will provide transport from the car park to the race venue. Detailed guidelines regarding travel arrangements, car parking, and boarding the coaches can be downloaded from the event website. Note: only 2 cars per team permitted!

The Relay Championships are subject to rules and guidelines that have been agreed and published by British Athletics. You must be a fully paid-up member of Preston Harriers (I will need your England Athletics number for the entry), and must wear a club vest when competing. Failure to wear a club vest will result in disqualification of the whole team. Each person will also have to carry full FRA kit (fully taped waterproof jacket and trousers, hat, gloves, compass, whistle).
