British Masters 5K Road Championship 2019

The British Masters road championships are always hotly contested and act as selection races for the national teams in the home countries cross country international which is held in November each year. Top masters athletes from across the UK travelled to Horwich for the 5km race which took place on a 3 lap course on closed roads as part of the Horwich festival of racing. Recent MV65 Kevin Hesketh was the only entrant from Preston Harriers. He had a storming run to win the silver medal in his age category, his first ever British Masters medal, beating rivals David Oxland of Notts AC and Stan Owen of Salford for the first time. Kevin’s time of 19 min 30 seconds moves him to 6th MV65 in the Run Britain national rankings for 5km.
