Sun 1 Sept 2019, Garstang 14 Harriers turned out for the classic Garstang half marathon, a race which at one time attracted the area’s best runners to fight it out over the challenging 13.1 mile course. Harriers Simon Collins and Andy Whaley broke away from the rest of field from the gun and the event quickly became a two-horse race. Racing side by side, the two were inseparable for the first elven miles, however it soon became clear which of the two had spent the past few months training specifically for half marathon distance. There was also Harrier success further down the field with Ken Beazley winning the men’s vet-60 category in a time of 1:33:38.
