Green Drive 5

Many thanks to Marion Hesketh for this race report

Once again, this popular local race attracted a large number of runners to the flat course

around the lanes near Lytham St Annes. Not for the first time, the race was held in fine weather after a recent storm.

The race incorporated the Lancashire Championships and former Harrier Daniel Bebbington was the race winner and Lancashire champion in a time of 24 minutes 13 seconds. Harriers' Sam Evans finished 4th in 26:41 with Luke Suffolk not far behind in 7th place with a time of 27:43. David Watson continued his fine run of form to place 23rd and 1st V55 in 29:32. These three combined to form Harriers’ A team, which placed 2nd behind perennial rivals Blackpool Wyre & Fylde AC.

Other Harriers men to take part were Dougie Potter (31:34), David Lea (2nd V60 in 31:39), Chris Wales (34:43), David Flitcroft (35:48), Alan Appleby (41:52), Siddhartha Wuppalapati (47:07) and Keith Rigby (48:08). Preston Harriers also won the Veterans team prize with David Watson, Dougie Potter and David Lea.

Cathy Flitcroft was the first Harrier lady to finish, running 35:36 to place 2nd FV55. The other

female Harriers who enjoyed the race and the support from spectators around the course

were Aarushi Wuppalapati (41:57), Gill Rigby (46:48), Sarah Clubb (47:12), Priti

Wuppalapati (48:08), Sarah Copestake (49:03), Maureen Kirkby (50:18) and Judith Deakin

(62:25). There were 328 finishers.
