Whilst things may have been quiet on the competition front in the UK several of Preston Harriers’ US based athletes were in action. On Friday 3rd December, Matthew Wigelsworth and Alex Bernstein were in action at the Blue and Gold Invitational indoor track & field meeting, hosted by the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. Wigelsworth, competing over 1,000 metres, set a PB to take first place in a time of 2:27.67, two seconds ahead of his nearest rival, whilst Bernstein also set a new PB to finish 7th in the weighted throw, achieving a throw of 15.81metres.
Saturday evening (4th December) saw the launch of the Leicester edition of the Podium 5k as Lancashire’s very popular and competitive 5k event branches out into new areas. Lining up for Preston was Joe Monk, who finished in a time of 15:01 to take 20th place on the day.
