23 Preston Harriers, or an assortment of Santas, elves, reindeers, turkeys, penguins and even a smurf, were on parade for the Hurst Green Turkey Trot. Most were in fancy dress for the 5 mile trail race with only the odd traditional blue, white and red Harriers vest on show.
The red and green Xmas colours were soon changed to a muddy brown once the race hit the bogs and deep water pools on Longridge Fell, where even the penguin (Charlotte Rawcliffe) managed to lose her flipper feet in the water.
First home in 5th place and 1st Vet 40 was Jon Green (or was it the smurf Jon Blue?), followed by Nichola Jackson (17th), John Griffiths (18th) with Alex Waddelove (24th) being chased home by a turkey Andy Grimshaw (25th).
Other positions were Stephen Bonsu (38th), Kevin Hunt (42nd), Roger Taylor (47th), Alan Appleby (73rd), Mick McLoughlin (76th), Roy Parkinson (79th), Charlotte Rawcliffe (95th), Kate Lakeland (99th), Phil Lakeland (112th), Karlyn Forrest (113th), Jim Doherty (118th), Eddy Stewart (124th), Mel Haworth (137th), Alan Metcalf (139th), Dave Roberts (162nd), Sue Wickham (208th), Kari Edwards (223rd), Joe Howard (231st).
