NORTH OF ENGLAND U13 & U15 INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS, SHEFFIELD – Sunday 5th February 2017


A dozen Preston Harriers athletes ventured across the Pennines to compete in the Northern Athletics under 13 and under 15 Indoor Championships and came back with 2 silvers and a bronze medal. The Blackwell family collected a silver with Liam finishing second in the under 15 800m in a time of 2.07.47 while his younger sister Imogen won a bronze over the same distance in the Under 13 girls event posting a time of 2.30.69. The performance of the day was by 13-year-old Harry Burrow who competed over the hurdles for the first time indoors and won a silver medal in the under 15 60m hurdles event. Harry blasted out of his blocks and led for the first 4 hurdles but was then caught by Jamie Hopkins of Southport and lost the gold by just 0.22 seconds. Harry’s time was 10.88. Harry also ran 31.06 secs. for the 200m and leapt 4.33m in the long jump.

Hayden Middleton just missed out on a medal finishing 4th in the under 13 boys 200m final in a time of 29.29. He ran 9.24 secs in the 60m and long jumped 3.78m. Also in the boys under13 age group Sebastian Chiarella ran 9.19s and 31.17s for the 60m and 200m respectively while long jumping 3.72m. Tamalyn Dickinson (under 13) ran 8.91 in the semi-final of the 200m , put the shot 7.11m for 5th position and cleared 1.25m in the high jump. Eleanor Noblet ran 9.03 in the semi-final of the under 13 60m and 30.13s in the 200m. She also leapt 4.00m in the long jump. Ethan Hallas had a good meet running 8.14 secs in the semi-final of the under 15 boys 60m and 8.00 secs in the heats. He also ran 25.13 secs in the semi-final of the 200m. Jacob Taylor ran 8.47 secs for 60m, long jumped 4.54m and put the shot 6.99m in the under 15 events. Under 15 girl Lauren Tunstall ran 9.79 secs for 60m hurdles and long jumped 4.77m. Lela Bendris ran 28.30secs in the semi of the 200m while Georgie Chesworth ran 28.59 secs in the 200m other semi-final.
