Joe Monk led the senior men’s team at the North of England Road Relay Championships, which were held at the Etihad stadium in Manchester and required each runner to complete a leg of 6800 meters. Completing the first leg in fifth position, in a time of 20:06, which turned out to be the twelfth fastest time recorded by a senior male that day. Wes Wilkinson, who learnt a hard lesson in pacing, ran the second leg in a time of 23:07 as the harriers slipped down to 28th. He was followed by Alex Venables (24:10, 40th), Andy Whaley (23:19, 39th), Simon Collins (23:04, 36th) and finally Simon Robinson (25:00, 39th) all of whom ran well, recorded respectable times and put in a big effort for the club. In the end the team finished 39th out 106 teams, missing out on selection for the national finals by around five minutes.
