Preston Harriers Medal Meeting


Sun 9 June 2019, UCLAN Preston After a very wet start to the weekend Sunday dawned bright and sunny for the medal meeting hosted by Preston Harriers at UCLAN on the 9th June. Athletes, ranging through School years 3, 4, 5 and 6, who are already members of Preston Harriers, youngsters on the waiting list and members from Blackburn Harriers, Leigh Harriers, and surrounding districts arrived to compete for medals in 75m, 400m and 600m races and cricket ball throw, shot put and long jump. The atmosphere was great as the competition got under way and many new personal best times and distances were achieved with plenty of gold, silver and bronze medals to be awarded at the end of the afternoon.

Winners in the 75m Girls age group races were Charlotte Smith, Lauren Hewitt, Hannah Davies and Evie Kitchen. 75m Boys age group winners were Ben Hopwood, Oliver Delany, Isaac Allen and Anton Gildea. 400m Girls age group winners were Charlotte Smith, Anna Vavoso, Hannah Davies and Imogen Robinson. 400m Boys age group winners were Alex McKinlay, Louis Gildea, Nate Wilson and Matthew Smith. Long jump Girls age group winners were Charlotte Smith, Isla Bamber, Hannah Davies and Amy Hewitt. Long jump Boys age group winners were Jacob Markland, Oliver Delaney, Isaac Allen and Logan Campbell. Cricket Ball Throw Girls age group winners were Orla Downes and Isla Bamber with Leah Walker and Evie Kitchen winning the shot put. Cricket Ball Throw Boys age group winners were Harry Craven and Lucas Cooke with Willson Parnell and Thomas Kelsall winning the shot put.
