Preston's Inter-Club is fast approaching

In just under two weeks it will be Preston Harriers’ turn to host an Inter-Club event at Avenham Park. How exciting!

On the 14th June we hope to welcome over 300 runners from local clubs as part of the inter-club series. This year’s course has been extended to make it a 4 mile race, taking in the spectacular views and gentle inclines of Avenham Park.

There will also be a buffet held after the event, which all runners and supporters are welcome to attend. This will be at Preston Sports Club on South Meadow Lane and volunteers will be there from 4.30pm onwards to receive contributions to the spread before the event takes place. The buffet venue is only a short walk away from the finish point of the race, so perhaps the walk or jog there could be your cool-down if you are running too.

This year’s car parking is extremely limited due to the flood defence works taking place in the area. There will only be limited parking available due to a car park closure and traffic diversions and new double yellow lines in place. We therefore recommend you take a look at at the final runner and spectator instructions, which can be found here: Preston Inter Club | Preston Harriers. This page gives some suggestions for parking as well as a comprehensive map of the course. If you’re interested in the locations and dates for the other fixtures this season you can view them here: Interclub | Preston Harriers.

Unlike previous years, we have ensured the toilets on the park itself will be open for runners to use. These are located next to the Pavillion cafe which is a couple of minutes away from the starting point of the race. Please be advised to get there early to ensure you have enough time before the race promptly begins at 7.30pm.

Race Director Ian Bebbington has worked hard to recruit an enthusiastic squad of volunteers to cheer runners on, with marshals on-hand at several points along the course ensuring everybody goes the right way! We look forward to seeing you there…all we need now is a little bit of evening sunshine.
