The 4th race in the Preston Harriers Junior Fell Championship saw 6 runners brave the elements at the Weets Junior Fell Race in Barnoldswick. The under 11s race saw Olivia Coupe start off the mornings proceedings with an impressive run, finishing the short, but steep course in 4:19 and 7th girl home. Four Harriers, two boys and two girls competed in the under 13s race with Vladimir Wiggins having another outstanding run. He finished 5th with a time of 3:06, this was closely followed by an excellent run by Megan Ind, 24 seconds behind and 3rd girl home. Five seconds later Jamie Hawtin crossed the line with another steady performance in 3:35 and Grace Horne bringing the girls contingent over in 4:30. The only Harrier in the hotly contested under 15 section was Luke Suffolk, who finished a creditable 7th place in 4:30. The senior race saw brilliant performances by rising star Oliver Heaton in 5th position overall in 41:30 and Gethin Butler 7th and 1st vet 45 in 41:50. The ever improving Olga Wiggins was 5th female over 35 in 1:14:16. Well done to all who participated in the various races under challenging conditions. The next and final race in the series is Boulsworth Fell Race, Trawden on Sunday 13th August.
