The Summer interclub road series involving the local clubs continued with the Wesham organised race that takes place in the roads around Salwick. The route is on mostly quieter lanes and is just over 4 ½ miles in length, but it has several undulations for the unwary! On a warm evening, with a cooling breeze Weshams Rob Danson was the winner in 22.39 although Rob Affleck battled well to close down the gaps and finish 2nd in 23.21. Richard Smith, now finding good form after injury was 6th in 24.48 and Toney Donnelly was 9th in 25.06. Karl Hodgson had a good run for 11th and a time of 25.17. Gethin Butler was 13th in 25.39 and Kevin Hunt 15th in 26.06. Simon Collins and David Watson were awarded the same time of 26.35 for 18th & 19th respectively. The final team counters, first ten to count, were Andrew Whalley and Steve Hallas and on the night Preston finished 1st team, ahead of Wesham who still lead the table by one point with two fixtures remaining.
