4 – 16 Sept 2018, Malaga Preston Harriers’ Caroline Warden took on the world last week as she headed to Malaga to represent Great Britain at the World Masters Athletics Championships.
Caroline, who works as a school secretary at St Pius X Catholic Preparatory School, was fortunate enough that she was given exceptional leave to compete at these major championships.
Caroline didn’t disappoint when she finished an amazing 5th in the W45 long jump. This was her first experience of a Masters International competition, but it hopefully won’t be her last. Caroline, a former England international in her youth, was supported by friends and family financially to reach the championships as Masters athletes are completely self-funding.
Caroline said ‘Every athlete dreams of representing their country. To be given this opportunity has been a surreal experience and I am grateful to everyone for their support, I could not have done it without the support of my coach Peter and training group. I am so grateful to school for allowing me time off in term time and hope I have done them proud.’
