Captain Cathy shares her run report for the girls!

Many thanks to female captain Cathy Flitcroft for the Sefton Park XC run report below and a big well done to all who made the journey to run, cheer or volunteer.

Preston's ladies put in a strong performance at the latest Mid Lancs cross country event at Liverpool's Sefton park. Turning out with a squad of 12, Preston ladies were able to field both A and B teams as well as a Vets teams which was great to see. This meeting at Liverpool incorporated the British Athletics Cross Challenge with the senior ladies race also including the U23 European trial event. In addition, not only was this a Mid Lancs League event but also the Red Rose league and the Liverpool district league, accumulating in a race of over 400 women. The atmosphere was electric with spectators lining the course and encouraging everyone in what could only be described as a typical challenging, boggy cross country course. At this point only overall provisional results have been released for the day's event but once again Emma McColm showed her strength in being the first Preston Harrier home, placing 70th overall in a strong field of runners.

Whilst we await the breakdown specific to the Mid Lancs league, other notable performances in our A team were from Nicola Sutton and Jamie Robinson, with Nicola and Jamie also scoring highly in the F35 age group along with Emma Watson. Meanwhile Charlotte Gregory, Nicola Foster and Eleanor Palmer made up a very strong B team.

...And there was more! Our *slightly* older ladies finished strongly in the F45+ age category with Cathy Flitcroft (F55), Kim Slater (F50) and Julie Tyrer (F45) all having good runs. Finally, well done to Olga Wiggins who made a last minute decision to run and to Sue Wickham who is on the comeback trail after injury: all in all a great day's work from everyone who ran.
