Cathy gives the lowdown on theMorecambe ten mile Club Champs event

11 hardy Preston Harriers turned out over the weekend for the 1st event in this years Road Club Championships.

45mph gales and driving rain did not deter this committed bunch from competing in the 10 miler along Morecambe prom aiming for a good start to this years Championships.

1st home for the men and 1st in his age category (V40) was Andy Cottam in 01:01:48, followed by Stuart Nixon (V40) 01:03:22 and Michael Croft (V40) 01:06:48. Looks like there is going to be a good battle in this age category this year!

Other male finishes were:

David Lea - first in his age category (V60) 01:08:08

Gareth Fairclough (V45) 01:10:09

Zach Holmes, racing in his first 10 miler 01:13:35

Alan Appleby - first in his age category (V75) 01:28:35

Meanwhile, in respect of the ladies, Chloe Reid finished 1st lady overall in 01:14:20 with Cathy Flitcroft finishing 3rd lady in 01:17:20.

In addition Kim Slater 01:33:11 and Dorothy Parker 01:38:31 both put in strong performances.

I think it would be fair to say that we will all be hoping for better weather in the next upcoming Club Champs races. Well done to all for taking a trip and running at this event.
