Auld Lang Syne Fell Race

There are a number of races that mark the end of the fell running year, and one of the most popular is the Auld Lang Syne race, over 6.7 miles and 1000 feet of ascent, across the moors above Haworth to the boggy flat terrain of Delf Hill. There were 364 finishers, led home by Mark Buckingham of Holmfirth Harriers in 40.31 and 2nd was Michael Cayton of Ribble Valley in 40.44. The ladies’ winner was Hatti Archer, Dark Peak, in 46.19 a GB international at several disciplines, including the European mountain running championships in 2019 and a former English cross country championship winner in 2009. 2nd was another GB world long distance mountain runner in 2017 and 2018, Nichola Jackson (Ribble Valley) in 47.05. Jon Green was a fine 41st in 51.19. David Parkington was 67th in 54.38, and Colin Shuttleworth was first vet 60 in 55.46. Steve Bamber, finished in 59.03 & Michael McLoughlin (vet 60) crossed the line in 1:08.41. Olga Wiggins also ran, and was home in 1:14.41.
