Chorley Inter Club Road Race

Wed 14 August 2019, Chorley

The Chorley inter club race took place on a damp, still evening with a shower of rain to cool down the runners as they tackled the two long climbs up Southport Road. Rob Danson of Wesham won the race in commanding style, but Preston Harriers triumphed in the open team competition. David Rigby was 2nd, Chris Tully 7th and Simon Collins 8th. The other team counters were Andy Whaley (13th), Nathan Hilditch (19th), Alex Venables (26th), Mark Lee (31st), Mariusz Kovacs (34th), Simon Robinson (37th) and Neil McDonald (40th). After 6 of the 7 races in the season long competition, Preston and Wesham are tied on 38 points each, so the overall winner will be decided at the final fixture at Leyland on 4th September. Preston Harriers were also 2nd overall veterans team, 2nd V50 team, 2nd V60 team and 4th Ladies team. The scorers for the ladies’ team were Becky Taylor, making a superb debut for the club, Kate Lakeland, Jenny Wren, Vicki Sherrington and Julie Tyrer.
