Trafford Distance Open

Thirteen Harriers made the trip over to Manchester for the Trafford Distance open event on Tuesday 18th May, with eleven athletes running new PBs and several podium finishers, testament to the hard work put in over the winter months. In the 800m events Daniel Bebbington (1:51.9) and Sam Smalley (2:12.9 PB) both won their 800m heats, with Ethan Chadwick second to Smalley in a PB time of 2:13.9. There were also second place finishes for Alex Kerfoot (1:58.4 PB) and Harry Hayes (1:59.0). Elsewhere Cieran Milligan, Grace Rayner, Jack Winstanley, Martha Rayner, and Matthew Clark all ran 800m PBs.

In the 1500m events Andy Benson took second place in his heat in a time of 4:01.01, whilst George Denye ran a new PB of 4:39.3 in his race. Finally, Libby Huxley ran a new 3000m PB of 10:24.21.

BMC

There were two BMC events last week. On Thursday 20th May in Leeds, Joe Monk was competing in the 3000m, running a time of 9:17.99 to place 9th, whilst on Sunday 23rd May in Leigh three Harriers took on the 800m, with Jessica Lane recording a PB and a third place finish in race E with a time of 2:36.46. Jack Winstanley recorded a new PB of 2:12.73 to finish 6th in heat C just head of Ethan Chadwick who ran 2:15.04. Elsewhere Billy Reid ran a season’s best of 4:30.04 to finish 4th in race C of the 1500m events.
