Preston Harriers continued their dominance of the Inter Club Fell Series at the final race at Tockholes on Thursday 5 July, to ensure that the Harriers won 4 out of 5 team prizes in the series – Overall Team, Vet 40, Vet 50 and Vet 60 teams, with the ladies improving to 2nd place.
In the individual categories Harriers finished first in 5 out of 7 categories – Richard Smith (Men), Jon Green (MV40), John Rainford (MV50) and Vicki Sherrington (Women & WV40). Other individual trophy winners were Jon Green (2nd Men), Simon Collins (3rd Men), Andy Whaley (2nd MV40), Alan Appleby (2nd MV60) and Olga Wiggins (2nd Women).
This was a true team effort, and great to see the traditional fell runners joined by those more accustomed to road races. Vet 60 – Alan Appleby (4 races), Mick McLoughlin (2), Steve Taylor (2). Women – Vicki Sherrington (3 races), Olga Wiggins (3), Jenny Wren (2) & Robyn Anderson (1).
