Preston Harriers put in some outstanding performances in the sunshine against tough competition as they shone at Wavertree during the Liverpool Throws and Jumps competition. Walking away with 5 gold and 3 bronze medals, the throwers and jumpers from Preston proved that they were real stars.
In a day where harriers athletes gained 5 new personal best performances, outstanding performances came from Corey Middleton whose 34.00 meter throw earned him a massive 7.07 meter personal best at javelin and an equally impressive 8.73 meter throw which gained him a 73 cm personal best at shot put and walked away with a gold for long jump and equalled his best in high jump.
Equally impressive were Willson Parnell who overcame an injury hit run-up to his first competition of the year to grab gold with a new PB of 33.10 meters, a 1.69 meter improvement, Ben Roberts who continues his fantastic progress to take gold in shot and discus with a shot PB of 12.30 (12cm improvement) and a discus PB of 36.91 (80 cm improvement). In hammer, Ed Jeans continued to show his class easily taking the gold with a throw of 60.29.
Bronze medals went to Sophia Ince who gave a polished performance in the face of tough competition in javelin, George Lowe in javelin and Corey Middleton in shot.
