Honour for Harrier’s Hammer Thrower

Preston Harriers Hammer Throwing prospect Alex Bernstein was honoured for his performances this season at the Annual Hammer Circle Reunion that took place in Hull on 7th & 8th October. Alex won the Alan Woods Salver that is presented to the Under 15 boy Hammer Circle member who threw the greatest distance during the season. That performance was in August when Alex won the Northern Athletics U15 Championships with a personal best of 55.51m. This throw ranked him 2nd in the country this season.

The Reunion is a weekend gathering of the countries best Hammer Throwers where the athletes have Hammer and Weight Throwing Competitions together with coaching sessions and various other tests. Alex’s also was the winner of the under 15 Boy’s Reunion competition with a throw of 51.58m. He moves into the under 17 category next summer which will mean that he will throw a 5kg hammer which is 1kg heavier than the weight of his present Hammer.
