Mid Lancs Cross Country, Leigh, 4th March 2017

The last cross country league fixture of the season took place at Leigh last Saturday. The courses were on a mixture of trail and grass, and recent heavy rain had resulted in some deep puddles and muddy areas, which became stickier as the day wore on.

The under 13 girls had the best team performance of the day, taking first place ahead of host club Leigh Harriers and ensuring too, that they won the Under 13 girls division. Awards are presented at the League’s Presentation Night at the Bamber Bridge CMC club on Friday 21st April. The u13 girls race was over 2.3k and Imogen Blackwell was 7th in 8.21 and Faye Houghton was 9th. Emily Mayson was 12th, Emily Reynolds 16th, Grace Brown 17th, Eva Sturzaker 42nd, & Georgie Wilson 51st

Vladimir Wiggins, Thomas Chadwick, Luke Suffolk, James Hawtin and Harley Vickers all ran in the under 13 boys race. Emma Essex-Crosby was the highest finisher for Harriers at 15th in the senior ladies’ race over 6k and also running were Loy Kalasiram, Vicki Sherrington, Judith Deakin and Kari Edwards. The men’s team had a number of notable absences, but were led home by Alex Waddelove over the 10k course.
