Prudent Riverside 10 Mile Road Race

Five members of Preston Harriers took on this popular race. Using it as part of his build-up for next month’s Berlin Marathon, Rob Affleck did a 9-mile warm up before contesting the lead throughout the race. Rob took second place in a time of 54.55, just 13 seconds behind winner Carl Hardman of Salford, who is also aiming for Berlin. Richard Smith finished in 10th place in 59.21, taking 80 seconds from his previous best. In his first 10-mile race, Jack Keighley clocked an excellent time of 65.16. Neil McDonald ran a season’s best of 67.54 in 41st place and Steve Townhill also improved his previous best with 69.25 for 47th place.
